Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons is a partnership between two iconic winemaking families. The Ruperts of South Africa, who own Anthonij Rupert Wyne and La Motte, and the Rothschilds who own a selection of French, Argentinian and New Zealand wine farms that define wine in their respective terroir. We were therefore thrilled to be approached to build a new online platform and e-store for their Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons range. The farm is situated on the historic Fredericksburg in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, housing a Tasting Centre and Restaurant that specialise in innovative wine pairings and dishes. The challenge was to accurately represent the main range, while also offering a selection of the international wines for sale as well as a booking functionality for both the Tasting Centre and Restaurant. Given the elegance and success of their established corporate identity, we placed an emphasis on user experience and simplicity. Our goal was to establish an adaptive platform that we could build on in the future (adding various valuable e-store functionalities to further enhance the online shopping experience as it becomes relevant) and that would go on representing the brand successfully indefinitely.
